don't shoot the messenger...
OMFG it doesn't matter if you lacked any form or childhood go check out the new TMNT movie like right now!!! it may not be the best remake ever but it sure comes damn hell close..!! and that's coming from someone who pisses over everything retro-new (read: shitty remakes of old school kickass-ness).
ok so our 4 favourite sewer dwellers now have hamburgers for heads and lack their rotund turtle-like physique of their 80s counterparts..and the CGI humans look like something out of some local godforsaken animation studio..but i'm here to shoutout to all that IT DOESN'T FRICKIN' MATTER!! the 80s flavor and humour are kept intact and nothing is EXTREMED or THUGGED OUT to appeal to all them niggawannabes teenagers.
but you go watch the movie and rate it yourself..i'm grabbing the chance to get all retro for this post and remind everyone why we had a proper childhood..
yea you like that don't you..kickass stuff back in the day...stop lying to yourself and deny you didn't glue yourself to the box each day after school to tune in to your fave 'toons..and stop deluding yourself that TMNT wasn't one of the biggest phenomenons to kick our collective butts in the 80s. goddamnit you could find them reptiles on cereal boxes!! and what better way to honour the turtles than to remind everyone of the juvenile but awesome cartoon...
and need i remind anyone about the wicked times you had ploughing thru' one of the multitudes of co-op sweetness that was the TMNT video games?? face it..you can't claim to have a childhood unless you've spent hours upon hours glued to your nintendo playing cooperative walk-here-walk-there-beatpeopleup-takechickenforlife..this one's from my fave turtles game..the SNES Turtles in Time!
so do yourself a favor and go relive your childhood for a couple hours in a dark theatre..you'll thank me for it later..
conicidentally..Transformers will be hitting the big screen some time this year but however i don't share the same anticipation as with the toitles..let me just officially state that i believe this new Transformers movie will be an insult to everyone's favorite line of boy toys. there's just too much hype w/o any kind of solid information regarding the movie.
worst of all? well actually i can't even decide..the fact that its not even following the original G1 continuity automatically qualifies it as sub standard already...worse that its gonna be live-action..i.e there's gonna be a focus on humans rather than plain ol' school robot on robot action. i admit using real world vehicles would be cool but when a show about robotic battles uses humans as a focal point..something's bound to suck..of cuz when it finally hits theatres it wouldn't matter cuz i'll be one of those clamouring to catch it..and subsequently buy the chiong version across the causeway..
my advice?? stick with the originals when it comes to old skool robot action..there's a reason why the G1 transformers are still the most popular continuity in the entire line.
yah mon ur eyes do not deceive you...you can catch the original G1 Transformers on CURRENT DAY MEDIACOCK TV!!! however, being the biased dickshits they are, this father of all wicked cartoons airs at1430hrs on a SATURDAY AFTERNOON!! so while more primetime slots are filled with gay crap like pokemon and jimmy neutron, the cartoon to end all cartoons gets relegated to a timeslot where even i find difficult to make time for! nahbehjibye!!
