topic of the day: MARRIAGE..or rather...the rush for it

now...like any normal person i respect the institution of legal rape; honestly i do. i sincerely believe that when 2 (or more) individuals are ready to bind themselves perpetually, it is a beautiful thing. heck without it we'd all have to take actual offense whenever some prick calls you a bastard..

..which leads me to the crux of today's rambling:
Are young educated promising individuals honestly even sure of what the hell they're doing whenever they jump the gun and decide to tie the knot?

hey..i barely turned 26 a couple of months ago and 90% of all existing people i know who are attached have already said their vows/ROMed/got a flat/got a kid/planned the dates. and take into account i'm already a year behind my own cohort of 81ers. the amazing thing? all those strong willed career minded girls with degrees who i personally believed would never think of marriage before reaching some career plateau have already been boned and hammered in multiple orifices by their not-boyfriends.

the trend also shows that for some reason saf regulars seem to love the notion of getting tied down..my conclusion is that they're worried their gfs may get swept away by the more successful, suave, rich guys in the outside world. 25 year old guys...hardly got their feet wet in the working world...who still enjoy playing soccer/hanging with frens/fucking random girls...deciding that its time to commit themselves to 1 girl. the irony? a fair bit of them don't even have girlfriends, and their peers are talking about marriage...

oh sure..you engaged/married dipshits are probably going 'here's another immature retard who doesn't understand the significance of marriage who doesn't know how to prioritise his life'

however consider for a minute..between doing something YOU like & spending 'quality' time with her to make HER happy...which decision would make more sense, notwithstanding you trying to get into her good books so she'll give you sex that night..? economy is booming now and we've got retards wanting to get married and pay upwards of $400k for a GODDAMN STUPID FUCKSHIT 4 ROOM HDB FLAT. i couldn't care less if the flat was smack in the middle of town or has some kickass view of the sea. i'm in the bloody navy think i've seen enough fucking ships & water thank you very fucking much...
you me both know flat prices are grossly inflated right now..but nooo..little john & mary think spending half a million to live like 80% of the population is a good buy. yes...cry father cry mother think car prices are ridiculous indeed...

NEWSFLASH: unlike the cost of own a vehicle in SG, property prices do rise & fall with the market economy.
lets see...i buy high now...and after i stay in my little HDB for 4 years and want to sell...hmm...would the economy be booming still...and HDB prices have rocketed to 1 million per unit...or is it more plausible for economy to slow down or even better...crash like in 97?? and guess who'll be getting married when that happens and getting a private condo in some prime area for less than what that shittard paid for the bedok unit facing the ocean...

honestly...$700k for a HDB unit?? 2 years ago a 2000sq ft condo along HOLLAND ROAD went for $850k...

fiscal issues aside, plenty 'o couples i see don't seem to be 'ready' to settle down. truth be told i know of only 2 or 3 couples who i believe are truly into this whole marriage thing. the rest all seem to be tying the knot for the sake of it..or some other ulterior motive...but their fiancees/gf/wives aren't rich so i can't think of any good ulterior motive...

i've attended my fair share of weddings this past year and honestly, while i give my best wishes to the couple, i can't help but raise an eyebrow and get a nagging feeling that it all feels very rehearsed and fake. as in 'i'm getting married so i must do this-n-this to prepare and show my love and we will get a flat and have xxx babies and WHATEVER!'

i have only attended 1 friend's wedding this year where i could really FEEL the couple were in love and getting married was their dream come true, and not just some rite of passage to show everyone your change in status.

for the record...MY gut feel about the couples who're planning marriage:

wendy: err...if 1st 3 months is anything to go by...you're just scared nobody else would want you right? (joking)
alvin/eileen: you both will definitely end up together long term but not really 100%...yet
costin/shann: sorry bro..i've maintain what i've said before..you seem to want to get married for the sake of it..you think you WANT but i suspect its out of obligation

oh ya..these are just my own personal gut feelings and you're not obligated to agree with me (although you would be wrong in that case) so don't get your panties in a tussle over what someone says in his blog. yes long post...thanks for reading
